Review:
This is the follow-up to the hugely popular Sheep Pig by Dick King-Smith and the hugely successful film made from the book, Babe. Babe doesn't have long to enjoy his triumphant at the National Sheepdog Trials as soon after they return, Farmer Hoggett is injured and the bank tries to take over the farm. When they realise that Babe can earn money by going to the state fair, he and Mrs Hoggett set off immediately. But things do not go smoothly and they get stranded in the city--which is no place for a pig. In the city Babe meets city animals with problems bigger than his and soon tries to help, all the while trying to a way to save the farm.
This novelisation of the new Babe film is full of humour and adventure, with Babe and his friends getting into all sorts of sticky situations, but coming through in the end. With eight pages of colour photographs from the film this is a fine accompaniment to the film as well as a humorous book in its own right. What it loses out on originality it makes up for in the humour of the situations and the characters Babe meets on his entry into the bright lights of the city.
